If enjoying a five course degustation menu while sipping on matched Pinnaroo Estate wines, listening to top musical talent and admiring artworks by leading regional artists sounds like a good idea don't delay snapping up the last of the Walsh Bay Arts Table tickets.
The Walsh Bay Arts Table takes place on Tuesday November 11 and this year is a joint initiative of Walsh Bay Arts and Commerce and Regional Arts NSW.
Set against the waterfront backdrop of Pier 2 the event's stunning menu has been generously designed and donated by Walsh Bay's finest restaurants including Dedes on the Wharf, Lotus Dumpling Bar, Seawall Restaurant and Bar, Simmer on the Bay and Sydney Dance Lounge.
WBAC chair and owner of Simmer on the Bay, Brigid Kennedy, describes this year's menu as "very fresh, very Sydney".
Guests will be treated to the produce from three new participating restaurants including fantastic seafood from food industry veterans, Dedes and exciting newcomer Seawall, balanced with the punchy flavours of Lotus' popular dumplings. Brigid adds that Simmer's beef dish with goats cheese soufflé is so moorish that even those feeling full will find room for just one more bite and Sydney Dance Lounge's dessert is a show-stopper.
Michael Jiang, owner of Lotus Dumpling Bar, says he is excited and proud to be a first-time supporter of the Walsh Bay Arts Table.
The restaurateur adds that guests on the night will sample Lotus Bar's signature prawn dumplings as well as a mixed mushroom variety.
"We hand make all our dumplings freshly from good quality, Australian produce," he says.
"It was hard to go past featuring our signature prawn offering – they are delicious and just so simple, easy and perfect for an outdoor event like this!"
Although food is front and centre at the event, Regional Arts NSW have confirmed that guests will also be treated to performances by Heath Cullen (support act for Joe Henry) and Tamworth Aboriginal singer, Rita Walford.
A range of silent auction regional art items including large scale charcoal drawings, stunning oils on canvas and beautiful ceramics will also be up for grabs on the night along with a Zoofari Lodge package donated by Taronga Western Plains Zoo. The Hon Troy Grant MP, NSW Minister for the Arts will also be on hand as a guest speaker.
To add to the feel good factor, all proceeds from the dinner are donated towards the development of arts and cultural activities in regional NSW and the overall event concept is about restaurants in Walsh Bay banding together to give back to the Arts community as a way of saying thank you for ongoing custom.
Additional Arts Table supporters in 2014 include Fratelli Fresh, Sonoma Bread, Vittoria Coffee and Integral Security.
