Azzurro 753 is known for Roman specialities including La Pinsa Romana – The Roman Pinsa. Taking its name from the Latin Pinsere, meaning ‘to stretch’, Roman Pinsa is a delicious twist on traditional pizza which originates from the ancient Roman Empire when rural Italians living just outside the city walls prepared a kind of focaccia with ground barley, spelt, salt and herbs. Crunchy on the outside and ‘cloud like’ on inside, authentic Pinsa has a wonderfully yeasty fragrance and complex flavour.
To give you the full Roman cultural experience, Azzurro 753 team have teamed up with The Italian Pot Studio’s Alessia Chiricolo, an art teacher from Italy and member of The Australian Ceramic Association.
Included is a 2 hour, hands-on pottery class with all clay and tools provided, a welcome soft drink, a delicious Pinsa and Italian house wine or bottled beer. The cost is just $99 per person Your creations will be taken to The Italian Pot studio at Redfern where you can experience e painting session, for just $49, to embellish your pot, or pick out a colour and they will glaze it for you for extra $20. Glazing is not mandatory but does make the pot waterproof. Collect yours after 3-4 weeks.
Azzurro 753’s stylsh bottega also displays a tempting range of made-in-Italy accessories for you to browse when you visit and perhaps take home a momento of your Sunday brush with Roman culture at Walsh Bay – Sydney’s harbourside arts and dining hub.
