WBAC Members can feel proud that Sydney’s 5-star hotel concierges consistently tell us that our annual Concierge Famil is the one event they look forward to each year! 27 turned out to this year’s famil on Wednesday September 12 and the feedback indicates that participating venues once again made an incredible impression:
Thank you so much for arranging such a brilliant afternoon down at Walsh Bay. It was an incredible experience from start to finish and to listen to the passion of the various businesses that we visited really reinforces what a vibrant and unique precinct Walsh Bay is, both for locals and visitors to Sydney alike. It certainly allows us to promote the area more diligently, having experienced the precinct first hand and I certainly look forward to doing so along with the rest of the Shangri-La Team. Phil de Merindol – Shangri-La
A BIG thank you to you and to everyone involved, especially the venues who hosted the concierge famil at Walsh Bay. The personal service, authentic food and beverages were all truly outstanding and a famil that everyone will be talking about for a long time. We understand the challenges involved in arranging such an organised familiarisation for a group of our size, while still showcasing a product suitable for a couple or small group. My experience has opened my options of sending guests over to Walsh Bay as there are quite a few things to do and sea – and eat! I mean it when I say that it was a truly stand out experience for our group. Jason Aberin - Hilton Sydney
It was a pleasure meeting you all and the Walsh Bay are of restaurants were truly amazing. So much food and wine, truly an amazing area to visit and dine, with beautiful surroundings. I look forward to sending our guests down that way. Sunny Togiavalu – Sheraton on the Park
These are just a few of the incredible responses, so we thank all of the venues who participated wholeheartedly for their generous hospitality in representing Walsh Bay as a must-do destination in the minds of these key influencers. Hotels represented included: Amora Hotel Jamison, Four Seasons, Hilton Sydney, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Pier One Sydney Harbour, QT Sydney, Shangri-la, Swissotel, Sydney Harbour Marriott, The Grace Hotel, The Langham Hotel, West Curio, DNSW Visitor Information Services. Sydney Where Magazine also attended and will feature in a review.
This year, we focused on venues that have not previously been visited, for this famil, and the activation of Pier 8, with the recent arrival of a variety of new eateries. We visited:
Zupano Espresso, who wowed guests with their decadent Mount Olympus Platter; Ventuno, where the ‘Grab & Go’ Picnic Basket made an impression; Lavana, where a Spiced Cucumber Margarita and new Crepes were a highlight; Hicksons Izakaya where creative Japanese Tapas gave concierges food for thought; Seventeen Restaurant, where the guests had the opportunity to enjoy a combination of elemetns from the Australian paddock, Marie France Group, where style and location created a real impact; Fratelli Fresh with a much needed hit of espresso martini well received; Sydney Tall Ships, which created a truly ‘insta-worthy moment’ with their striking timber vessel right at the end of Pier One, beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge and where better to conclude the experience than with a glass of champagne in the Gantry Garden, just in time for sunset on glittering Sydney Harbour! Much to the delight of concierges, Sydney Theatre Company generously gave away 2 x double passes to the evening performance at Ros Packer Theatre and Pier One Sydney Harbour donated a double pass to their coveted New Year’s Eve Party for one lucky winner – Jay de los Reyes from QT Sydney.
Concierges have been provided with the contact details for Walsh Bay business operators – not limited to just those who participated in hosting this famil. Several operators kindly provided vouchers to the concierges to encourage them to return for a personalised Walsh Bay experience, at their leisure.
On the morning of the famil, Dennis and Tina presented to City of Sydney Visitor Information Services Team who have requested a famil for their managers, to be organised during November. Additional concierges who were unable to attend on September 12, will also be invited to this famil.
