As a city New Year’s Eve hotspot, Walsh Bay shines bright. WBAC rounds up some of the best local events that took place to welcome in 2017.

Pier One Sydney held two New Years Eve events. Firstly its 7-course degustation dinner at The Gantry Restaurant featured matched wine and a menu crafted by Executive Chef, Joel Bickford. The 90 diners at this exclusive event were also able to access the infamous NYE @ Pier One Party.

This second event attracted more than 900 guests who enjoyed uninterrupted views of the Harbour and the evenings fireworks displaying. A ticketed event, entry included delicious food from a range of live, serving stations dotted along the Pier as well as beverages - served from pop-up bars. But the biggest attraction was the big-name DJs playing on the night - Yolanda Be Cool, Nacho Pop and Zannon.

Hosting several recent successful New Year’s Eve events, The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf once again made the most of its impressive firework vantage point with an exclusive cocktail party featuring a menu designed by executive chef, Geoff Haviland and tunes by DJs Charlie Villas and Meme.

Fresh Catering’s Stuart Ford says the evening, which attracted 350 party goers from all over the country as well as some international guests, was a stylish, opulent event with great food, drinks and music and an exceptional venue to watch the evening’s stunning firework display.

To round up what was a great New Year’s Eve in the precinct, a ticket to Sydney Dance Lounge’s private ‘wharf access party’ saw guests enjoy novelty glow in the dark cocktails, retro jelly shots, tasty canapés and access to an indulgent chocolate fountain (could be dangerous!) not to mention spectacular views of the fireworks and tunes by resident DJ along with a live, six piece band, Wonderbrass.
